Brief info

Dr. Isabella Opoku, a young neurosurgeon from Koforidua, Ghana, began her education at Pentecost Preparatory School and Ghana Consolidated Diamonds Junior High School. Excelling in academics, she won a district Science Technology and Mathematics Education (STME) contest and represented her region nationally. She attended St. Rose’s Secondary School for General Science and later received a full scholarship from the Brazilian government to study medicine at the Federal University of Bahia. After earning her medical license as a General Practitioner, she completed a Neurosurgery Specialization program at China International Neuroscience Institute Hospital and pursued a PhD in Neuroscience at Capital Medical University.

Dr. Opoku has extensive medical experience across continents and, in 2019, was nominated as President of the "Africa 100" Neurosurgical project in Asia. In June 2021, she became the first young neurosurgeon to be recognized by the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS). Alongside her medical career, she is dedicated to philanthropic work, volunteering at orphanages and supporting the Ghana prison service. Additionally, she runs a business importing medical consumables to Ghana.
